My Story

Born and raised in the US, I felt we Indian-Americans always struggled to find trendy Indian outfits. We continued to grow our wardrobe with all the latest western trends, but when it came to attending an Indian function we would look like we came from an 80's Bollywood movie and not the good kind! This was something I felt for a long time, but after completing my Bachelors in Fashion Design from Virginia Commonwealth University, I realized I would be able to provide girls like me, Indian outfits that were just as stylish and trendy as our western clothes. This passion of mine is what gave me the courage to take the step to move to the capital of Indian Fashion, Mumbai City!

Soon after moving to Mumbai, I worked with several fashion designers and boutiques to gain knowledge and experience. I started off as an intern and worked my way up to becoming a lead designer in one of the companies. This gave me the confidence to eventually start my own label. My self-titled label 'Sapana Amin' was finally created in 2008.

Today, I work with many clients around the globe and have earned a reputation for my creative outfits, work ethic and willingness to work with each individual client on a custom level, ensuring that they are happy with their final outfit. As for the future, my goal remains to keep creating never-before-seen designs that blurs the line between traditional and western styles and to provide each client with a feeling of being unique in their sartorial choices.

I would like to thank all you beautiful people out there who continue to support my work and have trusted me every step of the way. I have a long way to go, but I wouldn't be here today without you.
